Jefferson County Food Project
Sharing Food. Building Community
An innovative way to fight hunger in our community

You Can Help – We Make it Easy

  1. When you are shopping for your family, you can purchase one or two extra items of nonperishable food.

  2. Place those items in the provided green bag.

  3. Our volunteer will collect the bags of healthy nonperishable food left outside their front doors, every 2nd Saturday of an even month and deliver it to the Madras Community Food Pantry.

  4. They will leave another green bag for the next time. It’s that easy!

Join the Support Team

  • We’ve got lots of big and small jobs to do! Help with anything from unloading bags of food to making phone calls to joining our Steering Committee.

Be a Neighborhood Coordinator

  • It takes about one hour a month to coordinate your neighborhoods.

  • Pick up donor’s green bags every two months and deliver them to Madras Community Food Pantry.

  • Leave another green bag.

Be a Food Donor

  • Fill the green bags provided with nonperishable food and put it outside your front door. That’s all there is to it!

  • One full green bag equals about 10 meals. We combine your bag with other neighbor’s bags and together we can feed the community!

Our MISSION

To help people out of poverty by alleviating hunger and food insecurity for those persons in Jefferson County and the surrounding area who are at risk.

Our Services

We offer high protein, nutrient-dense free food choices to any resident of Jefferson County or Warm Springs who is in need of food. No one is excluded, if they come to shop.

How it all began

Our volunteers started handing food out of the office window in 1995. We evolved into a shopping pantry in 2016 and became our own 501c3 nonprofit in 2021.
